Iran has vowed to retaliate in revenge for Soleimani&#8217;s death and said it will no longer abide by the limits on uranium enrichment contained in the 2015 nuclear deal.<\/p>\n<p>Japanese shares returned for their first day of trade with the benchmark Nikkei 225 declining 1.9% while the Topix index was down 1.4%. In South Korea, the Kospi index fell 1%. Hong Kong\u2019s Hang Seng index was down 1.1%. Chinese mainland markets bucked the downward trend: The Shanghai composite was flat, the Shenzhen composite added 0.3%.<\/p>\n<p>Oil prices surged 3% on Friday on worries that potential conflict between the U.S. and Iran could disrupt energy production in the region. In the currency market, the U.S. dollar traded near flat against a basket of currencies.
